Shepherd’s Pie with Ground Beef

Ingredients

  • 1 package Pound of Ground® Crumbles® Ground Beef with Onions
  • 1 package refrigerated, prepared mashed potatoes
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 5-7 baby carrots, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • ½ cup shredded sharp cheddar (or more, based on preference)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Cook Pound of Ground® Crumbles® Ground Beef with Onions per package directions. 
  3. Meanwhile, cook potatoes according to package directions.
  4. In a medium bowl, beat the egg with a fork, add the cooked potatoes and ¼ teaspoon pepper, and set aside. 
  5. Drain beef, then add carrots, flour, salt, and ¼ teaspoon pepper to cooked beef and stir.
  6. Add broth and cook, stirring constantly, 3 minutes or until slightly thickened. 
  7. Lightly grease an 11×7” baking dish, spread meat mixture over the bottom of the dish, and top with potato mixture.
  8. Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes, uncovered. 
  9. Sprinkle with cheese and bake for 5 more minutes. 
  10. Serve with bagged salad and French bread. Enjoy!
